SEH FOR LIFE

From this SEH program, I have been through so many experiences and knowledges not only about the subjects inside this course but also learn about the leadership and also teamwork inside it through the event and activities from it. Applied Science of Forest Resources Technology been changed me to the new person which I discovered myself to be more likely to love adventures and become a nature lover. As we know that in this program, we as a student been exposed to the real world in the forest and manage to discover variety of trees and types of forest. Not only that, we also learn about the type of timbers and their characteristics which help us to identify the strength and weaknesses of it to be determine of what type of product can be used from that timber itself. Moreover, we also have been exposed to design our own products and manage to learn to use the software like Autocad or Sketchup to design and this was my first time of learning it. Not only that, we also learn on how to do a map using GIS and all those knowledges on how to design a product or do a map with all those software are very helpful later. For example during the industrial training or perhaps to promote yourself to the companies outside and manage to stand by yourself and able to do better than others. So I am really proud of my course and this program has contribute many benefits and thus it should be a continued program in the future. Even though this program is still new and quite limited but on the bright side actually there are more opportunities and outcome from this program in the future ahead. LOVE SEH LOVE NATURE.

JENESYS 2017 Programme - Day 5

September 23, Kuji Iwate

            That beautiful morning, we all headed to the beach just before we are going back to Tokyo. Then, we handled our present to the family and headed to the cottage in Kuji. After lunch, we were having our workshop and also preparation for farewell party. Below show some pictures took from the beach.

In that workshop, we discussed about the action plan and the outcome of this programme and also our findings through this programme. 

Around 6pm we were having our farewell party together with our foster family and for our group, we provided singing performance to the audience. Farewell party finished and we accompanied our family to the bus and saying our last goodbye to them.

It's really sad to say goodbye to them and really appreciate the hospitality and service provided by our foster family and JICE staffs. Love them <3

JENESYS 2017 Programme - Day 4

September 22, Kuji Iwate

            We are heading to Yokonuma Fishing Port and arrived there by 9.20am. It was a beautiful day and perfect day for fishing. We have been given the briefing about the earthquake and how the earthquake happens. There are so many information that we obtained from there and also got a chance to ask the fisherman about their experiences during the earthquake and how they loss their children and still they have survive and keep on living. Moreover, we were given the opportunity to have the experience to fishing with the fisherman on a boat. It was relaxing to be able doing it and enjoyed the view of the sea and be able to feel the breeze from it. Not only that, we are able to help the captain (fisherman) pulled out their catches for that day and be able to see the sea urchin and also taste it freshly and it was the best experience ever when you have an opportunity to go to this fishing port. 

At 11.45am, we having our lunch and moved to the Kuji Shopping Center and be able to spent one hour there buy souvenir for family and friends. Next, we moved to Kuji JC Park, Monument of the Great East Japan Earthquake. This monument was built as the symbol of the ascension for the victims of the tsunami. The black monument, ‘Tane-no-Ireihi’ is the seed that symbolizes citizens’ will to overcome the disaster and look ahead for the recovery. While the white monument, ‘Mebae-no-Tou’, illustrates the sprout growing from the seed. Moreover, the height of the white monument is 8.4 meters, which is the exact height of the 2011 tsunami wave that struck the Yuriage area.

After that, we all separated to our own foster family by bus. Once arrived, we introduced ourselves to the family and having a conversation to get to know each other better. On that evening, the mother took us to have a walk in the residential park and I discovered that the place is so clean and safe plus there were so many beautiful flowers and I discovered that this area they do love gardening and there were plants all over their houses. 

For bathing etiquette, you can't go into the water with your dirty body, that is only after you finished cleaning and have rinsed all the soap off your body, enter the bath tub once more for a final soaking. After leaving the tub, the water is usually left for the next member of the house. It is to keep the bath water clean for all members of the house that washing and rinsing is done outside of the actual bathtub. At night, we were having dinner together and chit chat till late night just because we only have one day together with them and tomorrow we will be leaving. :(
